Melvalean Mclemore graduated from the University of Houston in 2009 with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design. She is an active volunteer for Habitat for humanity and many other community focused groups and causes. Through ACE (Architecture- Construction- Engineering) she has served as a mentor and met weekly with high school juniors and seniors. She also collaborated with construction managers and engineers to help the students develop their projects. She also spearheaded an initiative to teach an “Architecture 101” course to students (k-9th grade) at MECA, a city non-profit that encourages the use of arts as a means of education for inner-city youths.
Melvalean studied abroad in Italy during the College of Architecture’s summer program. She loves to travel and tries to go someplace new every year. She enjoys her art within her architectural designs and has entered several architectural competitions. She is also a die-hard University of Houston Football fan.
